Just finishing writing up a feature story on a journey through the Outback (north) by a private plane in Australia. Bill Peach Journeys is the company and we flew in a Dash 8 plane - holding 28 people. I picked up with the group in Darwin, had two days there including a magnificent sunset cruise on the harbour. We then flew to Kununnura, did a day trip up the Ord River; flew over the most magical part of the Kimberley - the Bungle Bungles then onto the fabulous pearling town of Broome.
Next stop Uluru ( Ayers Rock, the world's largest monolith - and beating heart of Australia); a 'Sounds of Silence' dinner in the desert and then into 'a town like Alice'. Secong last stop was the legendary town of Birdsville - one pub and plenty of history. Refuelled in Bourke for the last leg back to Sydney - a bit of a cshock oafter the space, beauty and quiet of the mighty Outback. Small group tours - way to go!http://getupandgomagazine.blogspot.com
