Online Booking
Indian Railways has been modernising its online presence and features, allowing for online booking and payment - and not only that, but now you can book up to three months ahead of travel as well as at the last minute, under the five-year-old Tatkal Scheme.
"Operation Five Minutes"
If for whatever reason they do not book online, many people have in the past resigned themselves to long queues at ticket windows. in the past several years the Ministry of Railways has also instituted an initiative called Operation Five Minutes, which guarantees ticket purchases within that amount of time.
Train Station WiFi
In 2016 Indian Railways partnered with Google on Project Nilgiri, which continues to roll out free WiFi hubs in what will eventually be 400 railway stations across India.
