6 Foodie Cities to Visit in 2023

Food is a big factor in many travels, and some people choose to leave home just to try out new meals and beverages. And every day, we have more and more new restaurants, fast food joints and culinary inventions to try. So if you consider yourself a foodie, here are some destinations you must visit in 2023:

Vilnius, Lithuania

This might not be how you expected this list to start, but 2023 is the right time to try something completely new. Vilnius, the country’s capital, offers the best mix of new and traditional cuisine. When in Vilnius, make sure to try cepelinai—potato dumplings filled with meat, and šaltibarščiai—Instagram-perfect pink beetroot soup. And often, you can find very modern takes on traditional food for an absolute steal! If you’re looking for a specific place to visit, Nineteen18 is a gorgeous Old Town mansion/culinary hub full of restaurants and food stalls, mostly dedicated to Lithuanian organic products—it’s a must-visit.

Toronto, Canada

Our northern neighbor, Canada, has much to be proud of when it comes to food. Toronto is a true culinary melting pot which makes it a must-visit North American destination in 2023. The city just received its own Michelin guide containing 74 restaurants and 27 different cuisine types. The fact that Toronto is located near three distinct wine regions and is surrounded by plenty of rich lands, makes it a perfect playground for ambitious chefs to show off their talents and surprise hungry foodies with local ingredients.

Miami, Florida, USA

In the last few years, Miami has been going through a real explosion of quality chefs making a name for themselves. Michelin Guide noticed that as well, so we got our first Guide to Florida that highlights all the best eateries in Miami, Orlando and Tampa. When it comes to Magic City, 65 restaurants earned a spot in this prestigious guide. But don’t think you can only enjoy high dining in this tropical paradise! Miami is famous for hearty comfort food of the highest quality. If you look at the Red Rooster menu, you’ll see everything from special cornbread and seafood towers to jerk BBQ ribs and shrimp&gritz. For a more affordable price, you’ll get unforgettable food that will warm your heart and recharge your energy supplies.

Beverly Hills, California, USA

Beverly Hills might have a very hoity-toity reputation ever since Spago opened its doors in 1982. It’s true that this part of LA has the biggest concentration of Michelin stars in the area, and 2022 brought even more entries. For instance, a good place to check out in 90210 is The Hideaway, an upscale Mexican restaurant, especially proud of its 36-hour birria. Also, make sure to visit the iconic La Dolce Vita which used to be a favorite spot of greats like Regan and Frank Sinatra. For those who prefer a more chill eating atmosphere, Ella is an all-day restaurant with a very communal vibe and a great natural wine list.

Singapore

This city has always had an impressive foodie scene. It’s been the only Southeast Asian spot with a restaurant with three Michelin stars, but you can also get Michelin-starred meals even in stalls in hawker centers. Seven new spots got their first start in 2022, so next year will be crazy for all foodies. This destination is especially attractive to vegans and vegetarians because there are many new innovative restaurants to try out. For instance, Analogue is a plant-based eatery focusing on sustainability. Eco-friendliness can be seen both in the menu and in the interior design so your eyes will be just as happy as your mouth when eating there.

Grenada

In Grenada, the world’s first culinary capital, you can’t turn a corner without coming across some sort of food, either fast food or spices and ingredients. Grenada is famous for the production of nutmeg, allspice, clove, cinnamon, ginger, bay leaf and many other spices which freely grow on this island. When on this paradise island, make sure to try ‘oil down’, their national dish consisting of a heavy stew with veggies, meat, coconut oil and different spices. And don’t miss a chance to try some fresh seafood while enjoying waterfront views. For instance, BB’s Crabback and Friday’s Restaurant are known for tasty fish burgers. Those who want something more contemporary can make reservations at Asiatique or Rhodes at Calabash.

As a foodie, you’re guaranteed a whole new world of tastes and smells on your 2023 food tours. Choose any of these destinations and you’ll forget all about your diet!
