"Good you mentioned Bay Islands. A friend of mine who used to sail there says its the best place for sailing anywhere.
Agree with you about ginger beer.
Food: I like the meat pies. They're cheap, they're good. You had them? "
"I can't tell one star from another but I've camped in the White Mountains and the sky's full of stars, milky way and everything. I do know that if you see a star in White Mountains that looks bigger than the other stars it's probably not a star but…"
"Right, right, and right again. This goes for Spain, too, where I once got stuck turning a corner in Baeza. There just wasn't enough room for one mid-size car. No, I couldn't cheat by rolling over the sidewalk; there was none: just stone buildings on…"
"I agree with Donna - I've seen young couples who should be staring into each other's eyes staring instead into their smartphones over dinner or whatever. As a co-owner of this site, I'm excited about technology and an enthusiastic user of…"
"I text all the time when I'm traveling and when I'm home but I know you're right. Our faces are in our iPhones all the time and we talk to other people instead of to the people we're with."
"Paul, I'll be going to New Zealand in November, and my schedule won't allow me to do any real backpacking, but I sure enjoyed reading this -- it's a nice warm-up for me."
Paul, visiting MP, the Galapagos, and Easter Island is an enviably ambitious plan. You won't want to visit Ecuador without also visiting Quito, Otavalo, Cuenca, and the altiplano outback. And you won't want to see MP without also spending a few days in Lima (great museums!) and visiting the Peruvian altiplano. (Maybe the Peruvian Amazon, too, although I'm personally more crazy about the highlands.) And then there's Easter Island... not sure how you get there (or, for that matter, the Galapagos) on a shoestring. But most important, my not knowing how to do it doesn't mean there isn't a way.
This proposed trip is not only good material for a blog; it's also a book.
