  • I once went to a tourism marketplace in Lima a number of years ago. I wonder if it was connected to the lata?

Lovely cheers guys, I remeber coming across LATA in my many searches and then completely forgot about them.

  • I am not sure, but if you are interested in Argentina, Violeta Horne, based in Miami, is wonderful and so accomodating. Argentina does not do FAM trips often, but six months after I wrote an informal letter querying about the possibility, she kept me on her radar and called me when things did come up. She was also great about addressing the unique needs of my different outlets--culinary press, Jewish press and so forth.

Also, if you are interested in Rio, that is handled by Joao Rodrigues of Myriad who is from the area and is also fantastic to work with and travel with.
  • What about LATA http://www.lata.org/ ?

I specialize in writing about travel to Latin America, and I've never heard of one organization that serves specifically just South America -- Asia has that with PATA, but I don't think Latin America has an overarching organization for everyone.
For individual countries, one resource I use (if my Google searches and contacts don't work) is http://www.towd.com/, the Tourism Offices Worldwide Directory.
