Held in downtown's expansive Grant Park, Lolla was founded as a traveling festival in 1991 by Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, and has stayed in Chi-town since 2005. More than 400,000 music lovers come to hear alt rock, punk rock, hip hop, electronica, and heavy metal, with past headliners such as Arctic Monkeys, Butthole Surfers, Dua Lipa, Green Day, Machine Gun Kelly, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, and Smashing Pumpkins. There's plenty of art and food to go along with it, along with Kidzapalooza, a festival within a festival centered around family-friendly music.
