Playa del Secreto, situated in the municipality of Solidaridad, in the state of Quintana Roo, in the Riviera Maya, has 21 inhabitants and no monuments or constructions worthy of mention for miles around. So what makes it so special? The answer lies precisely in the nature which remains unspoiled by buildings. An endless beach of white sand and crystal waters at the perfect temperature all year round.
Playa del Secreto is considered the best beach in the Riviera Maya and, despite being relatively close to other more frequently-visited places with greater tourist infrastructure, this small slice of paradise has not been built upon. Blue skies, clear waters and natural sand are three elements which perfectly define it.
What is more, the path which leads to the beach passes through mangrove swamps and dense vegetation, where thousands of birds sit perched on tree branches watching travelers pass through in search of some more than deserved relaxation on the shore. Thus, the trip has the added incentive of seeing these tropical birds. When paradise alone is not enough.
Don’t miss: Playa del Secreto is one of the preferred locations of turtles for laying their eggs and of crabs for nesting. Furthermore, it is a perfect place for snorkeling.
“IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has 7 hotels in the Riviera Maya, scattered between Playa del Carmen and Playa Paraíso, two of the most beautiful spots in the region.”
