safaris (140)

Many of us have been fortunate enough to have been on safari in Africa - some of us more than once. While some like the wildebeests would like to live in big herds, others prefer taking their time alone leading solitary lives. Important Africa Holiday Tips

Even a million miles of travels start with just a single step, then another and another...until you can count no more of your safari steps. At the end of the travel, whichever type it was, be it an expedition to visit Africa to enjoy its adventures, or a short errand within your locality, one step is as important as the other. The best reference is from the Luo community in western Kenya, whose culture and traditional African heritage customary laws play a role in their day to day lives. They us

The Great Rift Valley was first recognized by a Scottish geologist, Walter Gregory early 1890s around Lake Naivasha, it is believed to have been formed millions of years ago as a result of continental drift processes. These strong underground forces led to the pulling apart of the earth crust causing the falling of the land between parallel fault lines. It is actually part of the 6000km long Afro-Asian rift system that runs from up north in Jordan, down to Mozambique in south Africa.

First, let me say that if I can get internet access anywhere outside of Nairobi on this trip I will be disappointed. My fantasy for this adventure is that my wife and I have to fight off lions, beware of snakes and wade through streams and rivers to get anywhere. I want baboons swinging at me from the trees and vultures circling overhead waiting to feast on my corpse.

OK, OK, it will not be that way. This is 2011, not 1811, or 1911. I am no Marlin Perkins although I am dressed like him for the t

Approaching storm - Kenya

We almost didn’t go. The thought of getting up at dawn didn’t sound very appealing at the moment and my daughter and I debated whether it would really be worth it. We had scheduled an early morning balloon ride but we’d had a couple of very full days on our safari and now we were tired. We had seen so much – lions hunting, hippos bathing in the river right outside our tents, stately giraffes sauntering across the landscape, the wildebeest crossing – how much better coul
