inns (53)

How many of us reach adulthood only to discover that we still don't know what we want to be when we grow up? That's definitely me. I've changed jobs and moved more times than most people would care to count. I guess I've been a bit of a restless spirit as I've looked for the place and career that fit right.... I am happy to announce that I've finally found it! When I grow up I want to be an Innkeeper... (NOTE: just because I'm now and innkeeper, doesn't mean I'm ready to grow up... I think I'll

New Innkeepers Use Social Media To Attract New Guests

In the highly individualistic culture of the Bed and Breakfast business, Tim and Amy Brady are fast becoming the "go to" couple for B and B owners and operators eager to gain access to the powers of social media marketing, and improving the guest experiences in the process.

The 30 something, very cool  couple are decidedly not what one thinks of when one th

New England is not an easy place to get to know, especially in its winters when the dark and the cold and the snow hold the land in a formidable grasp, and the people disappear into their homes and cafes for months.

But that can also be the fun part of New England, and especially the iconic state of New Hampshire

Here the spirit of Robert Frost is alive and well, his woods fill with snow, are dark and deep, and the lights on the landscape come from villages in the hills,  and especially old in

California is blessed to have so many breathtaking  outdoor spaces. One of my favorite places on Earth is Big Sur, the stretch of rugged, California coast line south of Carmel in Monterey County, and heading south for 90 miles entering San Luis Obispo County, along California's scenic, coastal Highway 1. The majestic cliffs high above the ocean waves crashing on the rocky coastline below is quite a spectacle to see.

Around 20 lodging options exist in the Big Sur area, including some of the fines

The Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford, Vermont, right over the New Hampshire border, is one those rare destinations with hundreds of reviews and not one that doesn’t give the place outstanding ratings.
Mobil has given it Four Diamonds, and Rabbit Hill belongs to the cluster of "Select Registry" inns.
OK, so what?
Well, so plenty. The bucolic setting (compete with white-steepled church across the small village lane) and lovely gardens matter only if the innkeepers care about their guests and show i

Back from a brief breather in London to attend Olympic festivities, candidates from both the Pro-Doily and the No-Doily parties are back on the Doily Decision 2012 campaign trail.  Going after one another with campaign ads and media appearances, the fight to the finish sees no sign of diminishing until the end.  B&B industry journalists and media are captivated by the duel of the doilies, speculating that contemporary styling will trump traditionalism at inns and B&Bs in Doily Decision 2012.

The B&B industry is out to bust some myths, and are taking advantage of the election-year thinking to do it. With a totally tongue-in-cheek approach, it’s poking fun at the very symbol that has haunted them for years: the doily.

According to research conducted by the Professional Association of Innkeepers International(PAII) in conjunction with TripAdvisor, only about 12-percent of travelers on average choose to stay in B&Bs.
Anyone who has never tried a B&B tends to think that  B&Bs are the sa

Their bed and breakfast packages give food to the local food pantries and other “no-hunger” causes in the towns and regions where the "No-Hunger Games" B and B’s are located.
The Capital gang and the denizens of its Districts should rejoice.

In the hugely popular movie, the characters fight for survival.
Instead of the “survival of the fittest” in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy and movie, Mayne and her

La Jolla's Charming New Pantai Inn

9008671296?profile=original

The Pantai Inn just opened in San Diego’s favorite coastal community and is offering travelers great deals on ocean view suites.

The inn will eventually expand to 44 suites, but at the moment – I was there two days ago – only 7 suites are available, and these are being offered at discounted rates as low as $299 a night including continental breakfast, wi-fi, and free parking.

This has got to be Southern California’s best hotel deal at the moment, and it’s great for traveling families because

The "spirit" of our B&B Tarussio is .... !!

Hello everyone!!

We live in a villa of twentieth century.  The first floor has been used only for the B&B, based on three double rooms each one of them with private bathroom into the room. For guests who could be interested in to come in Arezzo there will be three possibilities:

first of all,

for guests who like using their cars or motorbikes, each one of them has its own parking space inside of our property;

otherwise,

for guests who are keen on bicycle, we have a big taverna-garage inside of our

A random drive along First Neck Lane in fabled Southampton, Long Island, New York brings you very close to gorgeous homes with endless driveways,  selling for 20 to 80 million dollars, and that's in a depressed housing  market.

But a few feet away is the Southampton Inn  an attractive, Tudor Style complex that happens to be a very family friendly place with subdued class.

Owner Dede Gotthelf, a warm and accessible woman, makes it clear that while s

Cows, Canines and Kids: The Chesterfield Inn

We missed the Strolling of the Heifers, a yearly event here in Brattelboro, Vermont, and by all accounts Vermont’s  answer to Spain’s frenetic  running of the bulls.

And a much preferred, more gentle event.

But we didn't miss the contra dancing at Pierce's Hall, tiny hall in a brick building unchanged since it was built early 1800's

It was off a dirt road, dusty and remote. There was an  obscure but lovely waterfall and an outhouse for a bathroom..

Have you ever walked by a marina and wondered who lives there? The good part is that we are harvesting lots and lots of rainwater and all our tanks are filling up which makes us feel really good. The water is treated with two filters and ultra violet light and the drinking water is treated further with reverse osmosis. The water is so soft and tastes wonderful with no nasty chlorine taste.
