Known as the adventure capital of Costa Rica, the Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna area definitely have a lot of adventures to offer thrill-seekers.
Alejandro Rodriguez Guerrero, Tourism Assistant at Central America Experience, recently spent a day in Costa Rica’s adventure tour capital checking out some of the newest tours being offered by Costa Rica Sky Adventures.
The hottest new extreme adventure tour to premiere in Costa Rica is Flyboarding. Invented in 2011 by French jet-ski racing champion, Franky Zapata, a Flyboard® is like a wakeboard with water jets underneath that propel the rider through the air and water. A rider can fly up to 15 meters in the air or flip, dive and pirouette through the water like a dolphin. In only three years, Flyboarding has become a major international water sport with competitions around the globe.
Costa Rica Sky Adventures will begin Flyboarding adventure tours on Lake Arenal at the end of November 2014.
Other fun new adventure tours at the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica include kayaking on Lake Arenal and mountain biking along the lakeshore.
“After delighting us with the demonstration of Flyboarding, and a delicious lunch at the Sky Adventures restaurant, we enjoyed a fun adventure kayaking and biking at Lake Arenal,” noted Alejandro.
On the kayaking tour, the group paddled kayaks out into the huge Lake Arenal, where they saw many different kinds of water birds, beautiful islands and the famous impressive landscape of the Arenal Volcano.
“After leaving the kayaks, we got on bikes and rode a gravel path bordering the Arenal Lake heading toward the operations center for Sky Adventures,” explained Alejandro. “The road has some small ascents that require an extra effort to reach the top, and also some steep declines that allowed us to get good speed for another dose of adrenaline.”
