Before that, I had only been to Saudi Arabia and a few parts of the country where I live.

Even though I knew I hate lying around on a beach with my clothes off or surfing on the waves because I was already tanned enough and I had no such skills like surfing.

Even though we went to Maldives anyway. In this blog, I will tell you a few of my experiences while traveling to this country.

1. Traveling to the Maldives is Cheaper than You Think

Maldives is a cheaper alternative to any other beaches you might want to visit in either South American countries or the North.

But it can only be cheaper if you manage to book everything by yourself without a need for support from travel agents.

I was stupid not to book my travel trip on my own and that was a mistake on my part. When I went there, everything was super easy. Each of the hotels has its own website or you can make a reservation through Booking.com.

Since Maldives is made up of different islands and you would have to choose your own, so the only thing you will need to keep in mind is to book a speed boat that will take you across that Island.

2. It Requires No VISA

In the beginning, why I said it was the most cheaper alternative is because it has a free VISA entry (on arrival). That means it does not require any kind of fees nor pre-booking.

So you just need to pay for your airline tickets, hotels, food, and all but not for VISA.

3. Dual Currency

I stayed in a Maasfushi Island which has more hotels and crowds than any other island. Like everyone else, I was also skeptic of whether I should exchange for the local currency or should I keep dollars at hand.

Unfortunately, I could not find any Maldives Rufiyaa in my country's airport so I had to keep dollars.

So there were two currencies at work. The Maldives Rufiyaa and the other is US Dollars. But as I should have known, everything that I buy from US Dollars would eventually be MUCH expensive than I buy from a Maldives local currency.

So, whatever you do, get your money exchanged or you'd eventually be paying much higher.

4. Do Stay 1 Day on a Resort

I was unfortunate not to have spent any day on a Resort. I was there for 5 days staying in a hotel but never had the chance to go to a resort.

Resorts are expensive, but it gives you experiences of a lifetime with extraordinary beauty. It may cost you $300 to $1,500 for a single day.

But I regret it now. I should have spent a night or even a day at a nearby resort.

5. Never Let your Online Security for Granted

In Maldives, Hotels have their own Wi-Fi services. Being a privacy expert too, I know how easy it is to hack your phone or your system when you are connected to public Wi-Fi.

These hackers can easily get hold of your personal information, banking details, and so much more.

That is why I always recommend using a VPN such as NordVPN before you travel to any country.

I didn't have a bad experience or any of that sort, but it is safe to be protected online at all times. It is better to be safe than sorry.

So, that was my experience visiting Maldives. I hope it helps you along the way and let you make better and sound decisions.

Grand Island Boat Tour Goahttps://tripatini.com/profiles/blogs/grand-island-boat-tour-goa-india2020-02-13T17:28:07.000Z2020-02-13T17:28:07.000ZGoa Tourshttps://tripatini.com/members/GoaTours

Located on the west side of Mormugao, in the Arabian Sea off South Goa, the Grand Island is a perfect place to enjoy the sea at its best. This is fairly probable, because it lies in the neighbourhood of a fault line, and both Thucydides and Strabo write that the northern part of the island had been shaken at different periods. Although it was my second visit to this wonderful, natural paradise island they managed to show me places and attractions that I had not discovered before. They have lived in Florianopolis---affectionately known by locals as Floripa--- for seven years, their company has been assisting LGBT visitors since they arrived. Their knowledge of the island and beyond is second to none. So whether you are visiting for the first time or returning for more of the beaches, sun and fun, be sure to contact them before you leave home for an assurance of the perfect island gay vacation.

The Gay Beach

Traveling around the island we visited several beaches and villages from the north end to the southern tip reminding me of the diversity on this small island with options for surfing or swimming and relaxing. We spent time at the sand dunes of Mocambique Beach, the International Jurere Beach and village, the Centro Historic Old Town, and my personal favourite Pantano do Sul Beach. We also visited the old Fort of Sao Jose on Ponta Grossa which was built in 1740 and provides great views of the island, the beaches, and the ocean. These are only a few of the highlights and in just five days we managed to traverse the entire island several times with different stops each day. That is one of the pleasures on an island which is 54 km long and 18km wide at its largest point---everything is easily accessible with only a short distance to travel. With 42 diverse beaches, fresh water lagoons, mountains, and more, Floripa is the ideal place for an outdoor adventure with nature.

Naturally this vacation paradise offers a wide variety of restaurants from gourmet dining, to oyster shacks on the beach and everything in between. One of the most popular culinary options is the Brazilian favorite of “Buffet By The Kilo” where you fill your plate and pay for the meal by its weight. There are numerous restaurants with ocean views and, of course, fresh seafood is the main highlight on almost every menu featuring the Catch of the Day.

Catch of the Day at Barra de Lagoa

If you happen to find yourself in the quaint fisherman's village of Barra de Lagoa then a visit to Gabbiani Restaurant is a must. This is one of the historic places in the small township and it began as a restaurant in 1952 and has remained in the same family for three generations. The current owners Rafael and Edson Coelho proudly display black and white photos of the community and the restaurant as it was back in the days when their grandfather started the business. Recently they have remodeled and decorated the building creating their own menu of local specialties. This is a very gay-friendly establishment with great food, attentive service, and a perfect location overlooking the beach. The Coelhos are always there to assist with menu selections or drink specialties. Be sure to ask for one of their different blends of Cachaca which is recommended by fishermen as the traditional drink before eating shellfish and is one of the ingredients for the popular Brazilian Caipirinhas. They will even share with you the secret way of drinking this strong liquor by itself.

Gabbiani Restaurant at Barra de Lagoa

Any visit to Floripa is bound to be a memorable vacation but Brazil Eco Journeys will ensure that you receive a true gay-friendly welcome from accommodations---like the Natur Campeche Pousada--- to restaurants and of course where to find the gay beach. Pack plenty of sun tan lotion and prepare for one or more of the spectacular beaches for relaxation or aqua sports.

Note: Florianopolis is the host city for the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) Annual Convention in 2012.

For More Information Visit: www.brazilecojourneys.com

Travel Marvel of South India: Vellorehttps://tripatini.com/profiles/blogs/travel-marvel-of-south-india2010-11-29T07:30:00.000Z2010-11-29T07:30:00.000ZLonely Planethttps://tripatini.com/members/LonelyPlanet

When any South Indian hears the word “Vellore”, he can think of two things immediately – one is Vellore Jail and another is Vellore Fort. Vellore Fort is very popular in South India, as it is very rare to find forts and palaces in South India. Vellore Fort is one of the largest forts among those very few forts of South India. It is located near Chennai city on the Chennai-Bangalore route.

Inside the gigantic Vellore Fort, there are a lot of government buildings, museums, Churches, and mosques. However, the most important structure inside the Vellore Fort is the magnificent Jalagandeswarar temple. The fort was in fact built due to this temple. Before I write about the architecture, structure, sculptures, and idols of Jalagandeswarar temple, I would talk about its history.

As per the legend the current site where the temple is located was an island surrounded by lake. In the island, there was an snake hole. Near the snake hole, there was a Shiv Linga idol which was protected by a five headed snake. A cow used to feed milk to the snake. After hearing all these stories, the king named Bommi Reddy who ruled this region started building the temple in the site. The temple construction was started in the year of 1274 AD. A sculptor from North India lead the construction of the temple. However, it was later found out that the day selected to start the construction was not auspicious. Hence, in order to protect the temple, the king had to build a fort around the temple so that he could protect this beautiful temple.

After Bommi Reddy, there were ten kings in his dynasty who ruled Vellore. It was in the 17th century AD that the fort city was captured by Bijapur Sultan. His son KanKhan and his grand son Abdullah ruled the city after him. As Abdullah was made to believe that there were costly stones lying below the Shiv idol, he removed the Shiv idol and threw the same into the moat surrounding the fort. After that, the Vellore city was captured by Marathas. Marathas brought the idol back to the city. However, within two years, the city went to Muslims again.

The poojas were stopped for around 21 years. When the city was recaptured by Marathas, the temple poojas were restarted. When it was recaptured by Muslims, the poojas and rituals didn’t stop. However, it is said, even though there is no historical proof, a Muslim prince who tried to misbehave with a female was killed by her within the temple complex. Since then (during 18th century AD), the Shiv Linga idol was shifted to a nearby village and the temple was without the main idol. It was only during the recent time towards the end of 20th century AD, the temple got back its idol as well as the original glory.

A big legend with some historical facts….tried to write briefly as far as possible. I will talk about the temple structure and idols in my next post about India Tourism.

Snorkeling in the Seychelles Islandshttps://tripatini.com/profiles/blogs/snorkeling-in-the-seychelles2010-11-18T22:00:00.000Z2010-11-18T22:00:00.000ZChalets d' Anse Forbanshttps://tripatini.com/members/ChaletsdAnseForbans

Mushroom Coral seen

Great Seychelles Snorkeling @ Chalets d' Anse Forbans

Chalets d' Anse Forbans is located just a step away from the beach of Anse Forbans which is located in a remote bay on the South East Coast of Mahé Island Seychelles. It will be heard all over the market place in Victoria and on picnic sites all over the Seychelles Islands. You will see people dancing, smiling and just loving life. But where did the origins of the Seychelles Local Kreole Music and Dance come from? While to start the name given to the Seychelles Islands by the Arabs was Zarin Islands which many believe was influenced by the music of the islands. But if you can take yourself to a warm tropical evening under the stars and hear the sounds of the Island. At this time it would have been very diverse you would have heard from the Masters house the sound of European Instruments like the violin and guitar but not far off another very different blend of exotic sounds. The sounds would be a combination of the Tam Tam, Bomb, Zez, Malcalapo and Hand Rattle. It was during this time that dances where created or perfected such as the Contredanse, Camtole, Valse, Kotis, Moutia, Sega, Tingaty, Romances ... This music later evolved and varied from island to island. It is not know the origins of these dances but many believe it originates from Zambia or Senegal. But what we do know is the Seychellois have adapted and improved their local dances yet still be able to retain alot of its ethnic origins using songs and romances for all occasions. There was a time when Seychellois married couples came out of the church with their guests and they all left in a procession with musicians- two fiddles, a guitarist, an accordion, a drummer and a triangle.Chalets d' Anse Forbans is your Ideal Seychelles Holiday Accomodation on Mahe Island. The water is warm year round, but it is recommended that you bring a long sleeved rash guard... the sun is intense! Most of the breaks are over coral reefs, so reef booties can be useful.Seychelles has two seasons and these are wind seasons. The North-West Monsoon and the South-East Monsoon. The North-West Monsoon blows from Mid-October to Mid-May. The South-East Monsoon blows from End of May until end of September. When the North-West Monsoon blows, means the the east coast of Mahe is offshore. Beaches such as Anse Royale, Anse Bougainville and Anse Parnel start breaking when there is some swell. All three beaches break right and are easy breaks to ride. Anse Parnel is a short paddle out and a easy ride. Anse Bougainville is recommended for the experienced surfer as the waves become very hollow and breaks fast on a coral bottom. Anse Royale is a long paddle, almost 1 km out, but really a great wave when its working. When the South-East Monsoon blows, the west coast of Mahe is offshore. Beaches such as Anse Boileau, Anse Aux Poules Bleues and Grand Anse start working when there is a good swell. Grand Anse has a sand bottom and breaks right, but surfers must keep an eye out for the rip currents. Anse Aux Poules Bleues is a great left break and when it works surfers can get some nice tube rides. Anse Boileau has a long paddle out about 400 m, but a nice easy right.Looking for a Vacation Home to Rental while on Holiday in the Seychelles- Chalets d' Anse Forbans offers Seychelles Self Catering Beach Bungalows on the South East Coast of Mahé.
