Here, you can make your way through forest canopy walks or fall in love with the relaxed pura vida (a favorite local phrase, meaning "pure life") of this lovely Central American country. There’s so much to do here that if you plan well you can truly have the trip of a lifetime. And here are some of what I think are the best places to go backpacking here:

Chase Waterfalls

There are many stunning waterfalls in Costa Rica that would be a shame to miss. In your Costa Rica all-inclusive vacations you can include waterfalls like Bajos del Toro which falls into a 300-feet deep crater, which you can see when visiting Poas Volcano. The vibrant waterfall in the hiking trail of Rio Celeste surrounded by emerald jungle is another not-to-miss destination for the backpackers. If you are headed to La Fortuna, visit the popular La Fortuna waterfall located ten minutes from the main town. Here, you can climb down 400 stairs to enjoy a dip into the sparkly clear river as well.

Zipline Through Rainforest Canopy

In the heights of Costa Rican rainforests, you can enjoy the adventure of your life with a zip-line tour. Go for adrenaline-pumping views of the vast jungles beneath your feet. Monteverde is the best place to go zip-lining and hiking through the misty cloud forests. Here the weather can be cool, so don’t forget to carry your hoodie, a waterproof jacket, and hiking boots before you set off on this trail. At the end of the trail, enjoy a quiet dinner at Tree House, or there are options like Tico y Rico.

Play on Playa Guiones

If surfing and yoga are your prerogatives for the vacations, plan a trip to Nosara. It’s a beautiful and quaint town on the Pacific Coast for families and backpackers alike. Playa Guiones is the main beach area of the town, offering consistent surf. If you’re into beginner-friendly waves, visit in the dry season that stretches from December to April. Even if you aren’t a surfer, you can go to mangroves for some paddle-boarding, take a yoga class, or walk down the gorgeous beaches.

Catch the Buzz in Beach Town Jacó

From a sleepy town known for excellent surfing to a thriving city with a buzzing lifestyle, Jacó has come a long way, and is still a paradise for the surfers die to its location in the Central Region on the Pacific Coast. If you are on the backpacking party vibes, it’s the perfect place for you. You can simply chill on the beach, explore the nightlife, take a surfing lesson, try going for SUP, or watch a stunning sunset. Miro’s Mountain is a hidden gem in the landscape of Jaco. You can go hiking on this mountain to burn the energy buildup after a laid-back time spent on the Jaco beaches.

Explore Capital San José

A backpacking trip to Costa Rica isn’t complete without a stay at the capital city of San Jose. It perfectly serves as a base for backpackers coming to explore this wonderful country. There are many budget hotels and backpacker hostels for accommodations. The city boasts many underrated attractions like a Chinatown, the historic National Theater, and fantastic gold and jade museums, along with hipster hub San Pedro, where you can chow down amazing burgers, chug microbrewed craft beer, and enjoy great live music.

Budget for Backpacking in Costa Rica

When planning Costa Rica all-inclusive vacations, you need an appropriate budget for a convenient trip. If you are planning to stay in a small budget hotel for your tour, you need to spend USD 45-50 per day, while it costs anywhere USD 50-100 for a mid-range hotel or private room in a hostel. For luxury accommodation you need a budget of USD 100-160 per day. With an all-inclusive package, you can save a lot on your trip and yet enjoy every exciting attraction that Costa Rica offers.

Getting Around

On a backpacking trip you'll want explore as much of the country as possible with affordable and easily accessible transportation. Buses are the best way to travel within the country. If you are traveling with a group, you can also book a private bus. Car rentals are also available at surprisingly affordable prices in Costa Rica.

When to Go?

Dry season is the best time for your backpacking trip to Costa Rica, from mid-December to April. You’ll find unending sunshine during the summer spell, though most of the famous spots are swarmed by tourists in this peak season.
May to November is the rainy (or "green") season in Costa Rica, and it’s the cheapest time to visit the country. The temperature remains warm is warm, but rainforests in this region burst into life during June and July when rains are light.

48 HOURS IN destinations. It may not get as many visitors as Paris, Barcelona or London but it still gets a huge amount. Once you get there, it is evident how popular Amsterdam is, especially on weekends. There is a clear contrast in popularity between mid-week and weekends there. Now, I realize that a high percentage of these city-breakers come to spend 48 hours in Amsterdam, make use of the activities that are illegal at home, before heading back to the airport in a very mind-altered state. However, for those more interested in truly seeing the city that they are in, this itinerary is, in my opinion, the perfect way to spend 48 hours in Amsterdam.

ACCOMMODATION

When choosing your accommodation, I suggest getting yourself a map of the city. You will quite clearly see the canal belts spreading across the city outwards from Central Station. When that stops, around the Vondelpark and Museumplein area, you have the edge of the city center. It is inside this area that you want to stay. Right in the center of this section is the Red Light District, the bulk of bars, shops, etc. In my opinion, avoid this. Move slightly further out, closer to the museums.

Better again, stay in the Jordaan area, just to the west which is still very central but a lot quieter. This area will give you a more local experience of Amsterdam instead of the tourist filled centre. Amsterdam has as many beautiful areas as it does downright tacky and overwhelming. The Jordaan area is definitely one of the the more charming parts of the city.

DAY 1 IN AMSTERDAM

MORNING

The best way to start your time in Amsterdam is with a visit to the Anne Frank House. This is by far the most popular tourist attraction in the city and for good reason too. For those living under a rock, Anne Frank was a Jewish teenager who hid in an attic with her family to evade capture during World War II. During her time in hiding she kept a diary which was later published. Booking in advance is essential and I recommend choosing the earliest time slot available.

The Anne Frank House should take you just over an hour. If you are there for opening it should be about 10:30 AM at this point. If you are yet to have breakfast then I suggest visiting one of the two fantastic pancake restaurants nearby. Both The Pancake Bakery and Pancakes are within walking distance and serve delicious savory and sweet pancakes. As it is breakfast time, I would go for the savory option. Some ham or bacon and dutch cheese is a great way to start your first day of eating in Amsterdam.

Breakfast at Pancakes!!

After breakfast, you are in the prime location to go on a canal tour. A canal tour is a great way to see Amsterdam from a different perspective. The tours tend to be both relaxing and informative. The accompanying audio guide teaches you the history of the buildings that sit on the waterfront as well as many facts about the city. On the same street as either pancake restaurant and the Anne Frank House is Lovers. These are one of the best companies for a canal tour in Amsterdam. Each tour lasts for an hour and twenty minutes, taking you slowly through the canals.

LUNCH

Your canal tour should conclude exactly where you started. Although visually you will have seen a large area of the city so far, I recommend getting your walking shoes on. To really experience a city, you need to walk it. This can also be an opportunity to pick up some classic Dutch food along the way. Walk back past the Anne Frank House and Westenkerk, turn left, cross the three canals and turn left again. This will have you walking along the Singel canal, the inner most canal of the three. Follow that canal all the way to its conclusion, turning left onto the last bridge. On this bridge should be a little food truck called Stubbe’s Haring.

Raw Herring has long been a traditional food in the Netherlands. For just €4 you can pick yourself up a raw herring sandwich with pickles and raw onions. This might not look the most appealing and most people turn their nose up at raw fish but it is surprisingly tasty. Its soft texture is complimented by the crunch of the vegetables. It is a great and inexpensive way to dive into the culinary scene of the real locals in Amsterdam. When done, keep walking the way you are facing until you get to the first bridge, Turn left before you cross it in the direction of Winkel 43.

This famous cafe serves up a treat that might be more appetizing to the common visitor. Their apple pie is legendary, the perfect combination of sweetness from the stewed apples and savory from the crumbly, thick crust. The cafe itself is very old-school and cozy. People are squeezed in and despite the much larger menu most are here for a slice of pie and a good cup of coffee. If the weather is good, try get yourself a seat outside. The quiet setting can make for a great place to relax for a while and people watch as locals go about their daily lives.

An apple pie too good to be missed

AFTERNOON

Keeping with the late morning’s theme, walking should be the activity of choice. Winkel 43 sits right on the edge of the Jordaan district of the city. Described to me as the real Dutch area of Amsterdam, the Jordaan was once the working man’s area. Rising house prices are bringing the area into a new phase. The Jordaan is fast becoming more and more hipster with art galleries, bars and restaurants constantly popping up. What makes this area so special is how it has remained virtually untouched by tourism. Very few visitors to Amsterdam venture into these streets, making it the perfect place to lose the map, take random turns and get lost. With each street you walk, your appreciation for Amsterdam increases. Little details will catch your attention, something which is unlikely to happen in the grubby streets of central.

When you are all walked out, use your map to take you back to basically where you first started, along the Prinsengracht canal. Further along from Winkel 43 is both the Amsterdam Cheese Museum and the Tulip Museum. Both are a fun, light-hearted experience as well as an opportunity to learn about important items in Dutch everyday culture. Cheese has been produced in the Netherlands for over 600 years. The museum gives visitors the chance to learn about the production and history along with some tasting. The tulip museum is located inside a small shop. Similar to the cheese museum, you can learn about the history of tulips in the Netherlands, how they came to the country and why their popularity has blossomed.

The Amsterdam Cheese Museum

DINNER

Foodhallen is a food experience not to be missed. Set in a former train depot, Foodhallen has something for everyone. International cuisines ranging from Chinese Dim Sum to Pizza and Pasta are sold by the many individual vendors. Their is an expansive seating area as well as a couple of bars selling beer, wine and cocktails. The atmosphere is always vibrant. Locals and tourists come here, eat some really good food, have a drink and enjoy their night. The portions don’t tend to be huge so you may find yourself visiting more than one food stall throughout the evening. My personal recommendation is both The Rough Kitchen and Le Petit Gateau. A night eating and drinking in Foodhallen is the perfect way to end day one in Amsterdam.

DAY 2 IN AMSTERDAM

BREAKFAST

After spending much of day one walking the streets of Amsterdam, day two promises to be slightly different. If your accommodation does not serve breakfast or if you wish to venture out for it, go to Broodje Bert. This tiny café has a fantastic selection of salads and sandwiches that are great for the start of any day. The cold sandwiches are deconstructed with your choice of fillings coming on a plate overflowing with salad and a fresh baguette on the side. The alternative are the fresh out of the oven sandwiches. Cheese, eggs and meats are all common toppings on these delicious looking plates. The menu is quite extensive so you won’t be short of choice. A breakfast at Broodje Bert is a healthy alternative to most of the other options available across Amsterdam.

A filling and quite healthy breakfast at Broodje Bert

MORNING

Amsterdam is full of amazing museums. Most of the top museums in the city are centered around art. Use your second morning to visit the two biggest and best in the city, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The Rijksmuseum contains paintings from artists such as Rembrandt as well as many historic items on display from Dutch colonial times. Some of the paintings on display at the Rijksmuseum are very dark and chilling. Even as a person that wouldn’t be too knowledgeable when it comes to art, I found this museum to be fascinating.

The Rijksmuseum is full of fascinating pieces of art

Van Gogh is possibly the most famous Dutch painter, especially among the younger generations. There are not many people who would fail to recognize some of his works, The Sunflowers being one of them. Van Gogh was insane by self-proclamation and this shows in many of his works. Again, even as a person not too interested in art, this museum really impressed me. During peak times, the queue can get quite long for both.

If you are keen on seeing each of these museums to their full potential, it will take more than one morning. I suggest visiting one before lunch and one after. This timescale is for the average person, those more interested in art will need considerably longer.

LUNCH

As you finish up in the museums, use this time to get some lunch from the nearby market. The largest day market in Europe, the Albert Cuyp Market is being visited by more and more tourists. Luckily to this day, it has still kept its local feel to it. The market is a glimpse into daily life in Amsterdam as many locals go about their business picking up some fresh fruit and vegetables or meats and fish. Fortunately for visitors, there is a considerable amount of food ready to be snacked on. Walk up and down the street, see which stalls are busy and then try them. Make sure you leave room for a piping hot stroopwafel from Original Stroopwafels. These were the best I had in Amsterdam.

AFTERNOON

The majority of the morning has been spent indoors, for that reason I would suggest getting back to nature in the early afternoon. Vondelpark, by far the biggest park in Amsterdam, is a great place to take some time, slow down and recuperate some energy. On a hot day, expect to see Vondelpark packed with locals basking in the sunshine. Free music and dance performances are also a regular occurrence in the open-air theatre. If the weather is really good, bring the food you bought at the market and have yourself a picnic!!

Nature is at its finest in Vondelpark

Fresh and ready to hit the city again, it is about time you make your way into central Amsterdam. The tone of the city will certainly change but this is a major part of the city that visitors must see. After all, this is the center of the city you came to visit. Walking straight from the main entrance of the park will lead you to Bloemenmarkt. The world’s only floating flower market gives visitors a chance to see the beautiful flower arrangements that the Netherlands is so famous for. Tulip bulbs are also sold to those that wish to grow their own at home.

For the rest of the afternoon, drop the map and walk the streets of Central. Dam Square, Rembrandt Square, Central Station, among this overrun area, there is some amazing architecture to find. Take a walk over to the Skinny Bridge, the smallest bridge in Amsterdam. This picturesque area is a nice place to grab a beer or a coffee, sit along the canal and watch the world go by.

DINNER

After last night’s dinner being based around international cuisine, your second meal should have more of a local feel to it. Meatballs are commonly found in most local Dutch restaurants and it is thought that Mister Meatball do some of, if not the best in the city. This tiny restaurant in central Amsterdam has just three tables so you may be in for a very worthwhile wait. They have a selection of meatballs that include chicken and spicy (not sure what meat) but the traditional beef and pork was good enough for me. They came with a side of potatoes mixed with sauerkraut and a good helping of gravy covering the whole thing. The food here is fresh, wholesome and filling, all for just €12.

A wholesome dinner at Mister Meatball

EVENING

By following this itinerary, you will have, up until this point, avoided the infamous side of Amsterdam. The side that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Whether you agree with it or not, The Red Light District is a huge part of Amsterdam, especially tourism in Amsterdam. Located in the oldest part of the city, De Wallen is a sight to behold. The girls line the streets in their small doorways waiting for customers from morning to night. After dark, the area really comes alive. The red lights reflect on the canal, making for a very picturesque and almost beautiful area. As can be expected, it regularly attracts the wrong crowd. If you feel uncomfortable, come, see and go. It would be foolish for anyone to visit Amsterdam and not see this part of the city.

Amsterdam is a city of huge contrasts. One street can be full of untouched beauty and the next, a dirty overrun tourist attraction. To truly appreciate the beauty you need to see both sides. The city has so much to offer visitors. Even those that only spend 48 hours in Amsterdam, have the time to do so much and cover a lot of ground. This itinerary is not designed to be followed minute by minute. A huge part of travelling is making your own way. However, by using this guide you will see the best that Amsterdam has to offer, you will eat really well and come away with a huge amount of satisfaction that you really made the most of the time you had there.

New York Magazine's New York Taste! Dates for the 11th annual trip in 2017 are June 17-24, and if you've ever wondered what really goes on down here, allow me to offer my report from June 2016 - my 12th trip to paradise and my 10th annual mid-June TravelSlut and Krewe de Krazy Life Group Trip Adventure.

I spent my 10 nights in room 2129, a Nude Beach Jacuzzi Premium Suite (NBJP), and I celebrated with about 40 Krewe members plus other group guests I have known for many years, including "Hedo Rockers," "Sex Gamers," "Reggae Cowboys," and "Texas Two-Steppers." Some of the Krewe this year included both veterans and newbies, singles and couples (A&C, M&J, J&M, C&B, M&M, R&C, S&J, L&R, K&P, V&A, L&T, S&A, B&G, M&F, K, R, T & FNG - you know who you are!).

I arrived in Montego Bay via Southwest Airlines from Orlando, Florida on an uneventful flight, and after the normal immigrations and customs process, I was transferred along with seven other Krewe members by our longtime and regular transportation company, Rocky’s Taxi Service, for another friendly, safe and efficient ride to Hedo, about 80 minutes west.

Upon arrival, my check-in at the concierge desk was quick and followed by a personal concierge escort to my room, where I was told of all the new procedures and renovations at Hedo since my last visit in June 2015.

My room was simply awesome, and the first time I have stayed in a premium jacuzzi suite - and it immediately became Krewe de Krazy Life group headquarters. I hung a banner over the jacuzzi on my lanai that could easily be seen from the sandy walk to and from the nude beach/pool areas.

My photos reflect the interior of the room with all its amenities including plenty of storage space, stocked refrigerator, LED-colored mirrored ceiling, dual bathroom sinks, premium toiletries, glassed-enclosed/large shower, closet & safe, and sliding glass door to the jacuzzi lanai (controlled electronically with a push-button exit and keypad control entry) and of course access to the concierge with the ability to reserve restaurants (all three restaurants are now first come/first served).

After I hosted the meet and greet in the piano bar, where Krewe had a chance to mingle, drink, eat fantastic appetizers (and where the beaded name necklaces, room key wristlets and sexy “toys” were distributed), we all walked about Hedo grounds to see all the great improvements in the lobby, dedicated wine and espresso coffee bars, gift shops, Reggae Beach Cafe (during daytime) and Flame/Chophouse (after dark).

Hedo staff that made my 12th stay special are too numerous to list and I am not over-exaggerating.I made sure I kept a daily list of everyone that made both my and the Krewe’s week so special and then wrote them onto my departure guest survey form.

The front office was again awesome and responsive and I spent considerable time there as a group leader. Best of all, they were responsive to my request and inquiries. Other staffers who provided outstanding service throughout the week included Winston, Ricardo, Odane, Clinton, Dorethea, Paulette, Hakeem, Emilio, Damion, Charlene, Liethan, Sunshine and Denise.

Themed costume nights were both a highlight for me and the Krewe de Krazy Life, and the energy provided each night only added to the excitement and eye candy for guests.

Saturday: HATS & HEELS

Sunday: HEDONISTIC SCHOOLGIRL

Monday: JAMAICA NIGHT

Tuesday: BARE AS YOU DARE GLOW PARTY

Wednesday: FETISH-FANTASY & LEATHER-LINGERIE

Thursday: TOGA FOAM PARTY

Friday: ROCKING ROCK STARS;

Of course guests, including those from the Krewe, had the option to dress in named theme or anyway they desired—even if it was not to dress up at all!

My routine, which mirrored many of the Krewe and other guests revolved around sleeping in (no alarms) and then enjoying the many great breakfast options in the newly-renovated main dining room before checking emails (and for me conducting some travel business) in the free wi-fi courtyard area (or far edge of the dining tables near Harry San restaurant). Some then went to work out while others went to the nude beach for some sun and Caribbean waters and others went to the nude pool to start the day’s fun in the sun and to snack on the various delicious items from the nude beach grill.

Often we would meet up later in the afternoon in the main dining room for catch-up and plans for the evening or next day. We also met daily at my suite in and out of the jacuzzi where it was very convenient the couple days we had some short rain showers. And having delivered rum creams to the jacuzzi was a real treat!

Afternoons were spent on the beach and/or nude pools including the clothing-optional pools near the main dining area and beachfront cafe.

Many in the Krewe took advantage of the complimentary, twice-daily, scuba and snorkeling boat trips that departed from the Hedo marina daily at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm.

Of course, some enjoyed the catamaran boat trip to the caves and to Ricks Bar & Cafe but the Krewe and I were invited (thanks, Bob) to take a special catamaran boat trip to the private Half Moon Bay island with a snorkel stop along the way around the southwest peninsula of Jamaica. Oncw we arrived on the island, we had an awaiting wonderful Jamaican barbeque lunch (and unlimited drinks) followed by a chance to explore the area, swim in the lagoon, boat to a remote island to drink at a tiki hut, or simply relax in any manner desired.

Dinners at Hedo have improved greatly, now with four options:

Harry San Teppanyaki (Japanese)

Pastafari (Italian)

Flame-Chophouse (American steakhouse, a option with so many praises from guests)

Main Terrace Dining Room (buffett and and the international dining night on Fridays)

I dined with all the Krewe at each of the various venues during our week and I cannot say I had a favorite because all 11 dinners were awesome and delicious with great service.

I met up with the resident wood-carver Christopher and thanked him for getting my wooden plaque hung from the eve of the nude pool bar facing the nude pool and jacuzzi.

The week with the Krewe was both active and busy (especially at night with our costumed antics/Ann-tics and relaxing with time spent on the nude beach, my jacuzzi suite, the nude pool and jacuzzi, and even the piano bar/side room, wine bar, and finally the new Rendezvous Lounge/Playroom:

Everyone liked the addition of the electronic and digital display monitors for daily dining options and activites board (located in the lobby) and the main dining menu board located near the grill.

I loved the whimsical new furniture both in the lobby (the buttcheek chairs) and around the main terrace pool (red lips loungers).

Again, I could not find some of my old painted rocks except for the Krewe rock near Pastafari so I painted a new one and placed it near the jacuzzi lanai steps outside my room.

A few random, fun memories….a skinny dip in the Hurricane Nightclub’s disco pool (and drinks served by Ricardo), footb and body massage on the catamaran boat trip back to Hedo from Half Moon Cay, nightly photos under and next to my banners hung around the rounds, showing off my new red wig gift from a TravelSlut SuperFan (JM) in Texas and Malibu Strings see through outfit from another TravelSlut SuperFan from South Africa, Glow Party at the pool and Foam Party in the courtyard, (note, the waterslide and rock climbing wall are both removed), midnight billiards, sunsets on the raft in the nude beach lagoon, and a chance to wear all my costumes packed in my 197 pounds of luggage (lol). And...

Of course some of the happenings at Hedo, both within and outside our group fun times, must stay at Hedo and in the minds and memories of those that were able to witness or participate in those special times

If you have any questions about Hedo or daily life at Hedo during our annual group week, please do not hesitate to ask and I will try to answer the best I can or refer you a valid resource.’

Hopefully you can join and be a member of our Krewe for our 11th Annual Group Trip Adventure and Rendezvous in Paradise at Hedonism II resort from June 17-24, 2017–and at the lowest group rates for all singles and couples. And in 2017 we will be doubling our Krewe headquarters with two (2) side-by-side nude premium jacuzzi suites. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDp1_B2hI4E

Just email or Yahoo! Eight Reasons Why You Shouldhttps://tripatini.com/profiles/blogs/a-holiday-vacation-eight2010-10-18T19:30:00.000Z2010-10-18T19:30:00.000ZSarah Conradhttps://tripatini.com/members/SarahConrad
The holidays are approaching and you may be getting more and more excited about having time off from work or school. Well, how about taking it one step further and get excited about a Caribbean vacation during the holidays? Should you take that plunge and book an exotic vacation during the holiday season?

Of course you should, and here are some reasons why.

1. A holiday vacation makes a great present—whether you want to be extra good to yourself or score major points with a loved one, a vacation during the holidays can be considered the ultimate gift.

2. Avoid that nasty winter weather. Most parts of the U.S. can be downright frigid during the holidays. Get a break from those gray days and opt for some warm, tropical weather. What a great mood lifter in the middle
of winter.

3. If you have a resort stay arranged for right beforeChristmas, or on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, then resorts are typically less crowded, which equates to more room on the beach or at the pool, a more relaxing environment, and less crowded attractions and activities. Keep in mind that if you decide to travel between Christmas and New Years, you will need to book early so that you don’t miss out on a room since that week can typically fill up at many resorts.

4.If you dread the thought of all of the obligatory things that come along with the holidays—cooking big meals, cleaning up for the arrival of guests and then cleaning up after those guests leave, and perhaps you really don’t want to deal with shopping for a Secret Santa giveaway—then going away might be the perfect answer.

5. Theholidays can be a great time to bond with family, whether you are around immediate family or get together with extended family. One way to make it extra special could involve taking a trip together. Then it becomes the best family reunion ever.

6. Do you want to avoid the franticholiday pace? Instead of dealing with long lines at stores, overbooked restaurants, and endless holiday get-togethers, picture yourself lounging on a beach in the Caribbean with crystal-clear waters lapping at your feet and the feel of the warm sun on your face. So you get a week of fun and relaxation while everyone else deals with traffic, chaos, and stress.

7. Traveling during holiday time off will helpyou make the most of your vacation days. Schools and most companies offer time off during the holidays. This means that you can take advantage of that time, and save your vacation days for another trip, or for down time at home.

8. Just think of the memories you can make during this holiday season. A trip to the Caribbean, Mexico , Costa Rica , or Panama, is an experience to be remembered. And imagine how jealous all of your friends will be when you come back and show them the fabulous photos you took during your sunset stroll on the beach, your afternoon of snorkeling, your golf outing on a course overlooking the turquoise Caribbean waters, etc. And those photos and memories can then help you get through the long dreary winter days ahead…that is before you plan
your next getaway to a tropical paradise.

Whether you arepicturing a tropical vacation in the near future, or are ready to go from dreaming to planning, we hope you will browse AllInclusiveOutlet.com for some of the wonderful all inclusive resorts

we offer. This all inclusive is the primo retreat for a fun-in-the sun holiday.

The perfection starts with their two lavish pools. One is an activities oriented DJ-hosted pool with a walkup bar where efficient tenders gregariously churn out the margaritas and rum and cokes. Poolside bingo, chicken dances, and water games flow freely where poolside loungers are rarely idle. Here the spring break crowd predominates with nonstop volleyball pickup games an arms length away on the beach. Walk up around the corner on a stone path surrounded by palm trees and tropical vegetation and you’ll reach a second more sublime pool area flanked by cushy lounger beds and a swim up bar designed for lingering as your kids play in the 3 inch deep shallows.

These two atmospheres, family and relaxation, along with partying and cutting loose complement each other perfectly giving the entire Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand experience a festive yet laid back vibe. And the food offerings here combine to work the same magic.

Breakfast

You can either start the day with an a la carte breakfast at La Concha, a type of octagonal enclosed palapa

Breakfast Buffet

overlooking the pool and ocean or with a lavish buffet at Cocay. My pick was Cocay where one side of the spread included waffles, fresh toast, cereals, and a sophisticated omelet station. The other boasted platters loaded with fresh slices of ripe mango, papaya, orange, and several varieties of melon. Woven baskets bulging with assortments of fresh baked Mexican sweet rolls sit along side bowls of dried fruits, nuts, granola, and shredded coconut providing the ingredients for a healthy muesli when mixed with a helping of yogurt.

Lunch

Surrounding the deck of the main pool area, Snack El Jardin grills up burgers with all the fixings including several varieties of hot pepper condiments along with their authentic fresh made nachos. You can top these with the classic melted cheese from the dispenser or sprinkle with finely grated jalepeno and pimiento powder. My favorite was the later giving the chips a flavorful bite. At Pizza Corner, dough is kneaded by hand right in front of you before being baked into personal sizes, sliced, and served for the taking. At first

glance, it’s familiar finger food but upon tasting is clearly homemade with native touches.

A Chef Making It All Come Together

Dinner

Similar to a cruise but not as formal, when the sun sets, it’s time to shed the bathing suits and flip flops for long pants, shirts, and dresses. This signals elegant menu offerings paired with extensive wine lists and top shelf mixed drinks. My favorite was the El Oriental Restaurant featuring oriental classics and a vast array of sushi paired with a Vinos Demeco Blanc 2008 from the Baja Peninsula. And no dinner here would be complete with a glass of Xtabentun anis liqueur, Mexico’s signature after dinner aperitif.

Beyond The Hotel

Fresh Produce Galore at Cancun Plaza 23

Even though it’s tempting to eat onsite during your entire stay and not venture out, I recommend exploring where local families (staff) as well as these hotel restaurants source their fresh produce and other seasonal ingredients. Skip the taxis, head down the front drive to the bus stop next to the main entrance, and wait for the Route 1 Express. Hand over your 7 pesos and ask the driver when to get off for Plaza 23 in downtown Cancun. It helps to brush up on your Spanish, bring a stack of pesos, and be ready to bargain. There isn’t any clear signage marking this vast public market so once you get off the bus, immediately cross Tulum Boulevard and walk up one of the side streets leading right into the activity. In return for your intrepid spirit, you’ll be rewarded with tons of authentic Mexican crafts, mangoes the size of your thigh, fresh made corn tortillas, and spices you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Just be sure to visit mornings when all the stalls are open for business.
