Does travel insurance cover car breakdown?

kovaciclea Hi everyone! It sounds great that the world is normalizing again, and I am planning a trip with my family. I am thinking to visit Belfast, Northern Ireland and a few camping sites in Scotland. Instead of public transport, I am thinking to use my own vehicle. Probably, my family can use 2 vehicles. In this regard, I am thinking to get a travel insurance plan for the entire family, but I am not sure either it would include a car breakdown or not. When I did an online search, then I…

Renting a car in the USA if you're under 21 - and with no fee

Visiting the United States, under 21, and looking to rent a car or other vehible? Usually no problem, as the age for rental is generally 18. However, keep in mind that car-rental companies try to protect their cars in the case of relatively inexperienced drivers by imposing young-driver fees and making only economy class cars available to them. Furthermore, car rental under 21 with no fee is possible if you know where to go and what to do. For example, if you're traveling with an older friend…

Is rental car insurance a scam?

So you are at a car rental counter after a six-hour flight, talking to a guy at the counter who presents you a pile of paperwork and some "irresistible" pitches. Indeed, most of said pitches that we get from various sources every day are nothing but garbage, and some also happen to be straight-up scams. In the case of rental cars, this may include a pass for the toll-road service fee or a tank full of fuel pre-paid. Before or after you accept any of these pitches, the counter rep  will also…

Car-rental companies are prime offenders in 'These Are the Most Ridiculous Fees in Travel'

Eric Hochstein found something unusual on his bill at the Gregory Hotel in New York City recently. No, it wasn't the mandatory $35-per-day resort fee that covers local and domestic calls, a 24-hour fitness center and coffee and tea. And it wasn't the $259-per-night room rate, which was below average for Manhattan. It was that the resort fee – which the Gregory calls a "tailored fee" to fit its garment theme – including a donation to charity to "save the Garment Center." "Pretty unique, eh?"…

12 Mistakes People Make When Renting A Car
Experts break down the most common rental car errors and the best ways to avoid them.
  • Hi,

If you've ever tried, you might have noticed that one-way car rentals (when you pick a car up in one city and drop it off in another), while convenient are often met with an expensive drop-off fee levied by the rental company.  Sometimes though there are good deals to be had, especially when rental companies need to relocate a car back to its original location.

To help find the best one-way car rental deals, we've just launched a new tool called the One-way Car Rental Price Lab.

Price Lab performs a live search on all major car-rental companies in the USA and Canada to quickly find you the cheapest one-way car rental deals. It takes a scientific approach to finding the best rates. Price Lab compares all search results to our database containing millions of records so you can see how prices change over time for different locations. If it looks like the price might fall some more, you can set a price alert and it will automatically let you know as soon as the price drops!
