A guide to climbing majestic Mount Kenya

Turkmenistan wants to close its 'Gateway to Hell'

    I just read in the BBC that though it's become one of this country's top visitor attractions, its president has ordered that the perpetually firey gas-drilling Darvaza crater in the Karakorum Desert be finally extinguished for environmental and health reasons, as well as part of an effort to increase gas exports.   • There's a new Edge Walk around the perimeter of the CNN Tower in Toronto. Granted, participants get a safety harness, but I really need that railing (know what I mean?), so I'd probably pass on this one. Would you do it?
  • Did anyone happen to catch this month's National Geographic piece on freeclimbing in Yosemite National Park?  Whew, just looking at these pics gave me chills.
