Odyssey-mania isn´t the only thing buoying Greece culture and tourism this summer! Just the other days, UNESCO announced its annual new World Heritage Sites, and the inclusion at long last of Mount Olympus - recognized for its cultural significance as the home of the ancient Greek gods and its rich natural landscape. - has been met with "near euphoria" here. Greece certainly is bursting with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, but this latest one, announced last month as one of 43 for 2023, is pretty remote: the "Zagori Cultural Landscape" in the Epirus region near the border with Albania centres around a series of traditional villages known as Zagorochoria that are made almost entirely of stone.
